The Biomechatronics Lab is excited to partner with Biomotum on their NIH STTR Phase 1 grant to study and develop an adjustable stiffness AFO for people with cerebral palsy.

Dr. Lerner had the honor of presenting in the National Academy of Engineering Japan-America Frontiers of Engineering Symposium. The program brings together 100 highly accomplished early-career engineers from US companies, universities, and government labs to discuss leading-edge research and technical work across a range of engineering fields.

The Biomechatronics Lab has teamed up with the Dr. Mike Schwartz at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare and Dr. Kat Steele at University of Washington on a 5-year NIH grant to explore the clinical implementation of our lightweight, dual-mode (assistive or resistive) wearable robotic ankle exoskeleton to improve function and mobility in children with cerebral palsy.

Congratulations to Ben for being awarded an NIH F30 Predoctoral Fellowship! Ben will use this award to investigate the neuromuscular response and training effects of wearable adaptive resistance in children with cerebral palsy.

Prof. Lerner has received an NSF CAREER Award. The 5-year grant seeks to optimize longterm gait rehab through hybrid ankle exoskeleton training.

We received a Pilot Project Award from the National Center for Simulation in Rehabilitation Research (NCSRR) at Stanford University. This project seeks to develop predictive simulations for robotic-aided rehabilitation of crouch gait.
